Father of the Bride – 1940s

In this little square candid, a bride and her father make their way to the church as a group of bystanders look on. I love the scalloped edges on this print, so I decided to leave it on in the scan. The photo is unmarked but appears to be from the 1940s.

Helen & Bud – 1958

I really enjoy the perspective of this photo. Obviously, several candid shots were being taken of the cake cutting and it’s fun to see another photographer off to the right framing the shot. This picture of Helen and Bud was taken at Hamilton Air Force Base in California in 1958.

The base was closed permanently in 1976 and is now a part of the city of Novarto.

1970s Couple

The photo of this couple is undated, but with that big bow tie and ruffled shirt this one looks to be from the 70s! Besides, the groom has a distinctly John Travolta vibe about him, doesn’t he?

Detroit Bride – 1910s or very early 1920s

This undated photo of a Detroit bride and her attendant is printed on an Artura real photo postcard (RPPC) attributed to Ziawinski Studio. Brothers Feliks and Joseph Ziawinski were portrait photographers primarily serving Detroit’s growing Polish American community in the early 1900s. Feliks Ziawinski passed away in 1923 at age 41 and the Artura imprint was discontinued by Kodak in 1924, so this photograph may date from the 1910s or very early 20s. Younger brother, Joseph, continued the family photography business and moved to another location on Michigan Avenue after his brother’s death.

The printed information on the back of the card is partially obscured by black scrapbook backing paper adhered to it. What is legible reads - Ziawinski 1652 Michigan Ave., Detroit, Michigan
