Hi all, following on the heels of Don & Pat, today I’m bringing you five more photos from the fabulous fifties:
A set of never before seen negatives from John and Jackie Kennedy’s 1953 wedding was recently found stashed in a darkroom by family members of their back-up wedding photographer. The negatives are up for auction until October 15th and at my last check they were going for $3141.
What an incredible find and rare chance to own a beautiful piece of American history.
This photograph of an unknown couple waving farewell outside a Chicago area Lutheran chuch is only imprinted on the back with the photographer’s information. It was taken by Henry Jankowski, owner of Jan’s Photo Service located at 4645 South Keeler Avenue, Chicago.
Mr. Jankowski passed away in 1986. A later location of his business (5712 S. Pulaski Rd, Chicago) is still a photography studio today, although operating under a different name.
Here is the second post in my Lansing, Michigan sisters series:
The wedding of Byron and Inez from 1951.
I really enjoy the perspective of this photo. Obviously, several candid shots were being taken of the cake cutting and it’s fun to see another photographer off to the right framing the shot. This picture of Helen and Bud was taken at Hamilton Air Force Base in California in 1958.
The base was closed permanently in 1976 and is now a part of the city of Novarto.
